History
The inception of Brinley Gold Shipwreck Vanilla Rum is rooted in a desire to capture the essence of the Caribbean’s vibrant flavors and ingredients. The brand was founded by Mark and Abbey Brinley, who were inspired by the stories of shipwrecks and adventures that hark back to their family’s maritime history. The rum is not just a product; it reflects a journey that began over a decade ago when the Brinleys were captivated by the unique nuances of Caribbean rum and its potential for innovative flavor infusions. The rum is a blend of rich tradition and modern craftsmanship, with the first expressions crafted in the wake of the Brinleys’ travels and explorations across the Caribbean, specifically in the picturesque setting of St. Kitts.
Fabrication Process
Brinley Gold Shipwreck Vanilla Rum begins its journey using high-quality molasses as the foundational ingredient, which is sourced from the Caribbean. The molasses undergoes fermentation, where yeast is introduced to convert the natural sugars into alcohol. This process takes place in carefully controlled environments to ensure proper flavor development. Once fermentation is complete, the liquid is distilled in traditional pot stills, allowing for the retention of character and complexity. Post-distillation, the rum is aged for a minimum of three years in Caribbean oak barrels, imparting depth and nuance to the spirit. It is during this aging process that the rum is blended with the finest Madagascar vanilla, enhancing its character and introducing an exceptional sweetness and aromatic quality. The final product is carefully filtered and bottled, ensuring the integrity of flavors is preserved without additives or artificial sweeteners.
