History
The story of BACARDÍ Carta Blanca Rum began in 1862 when Don Facundo Bacardí Massó, a visionary distiller from Spain, established a distillery in Santiago de Cuba. After a decade of experimenting with different blends and styles, he succeeded in crafting a refined white rum that was smooth and palatable compared to the heavy rums of the time. This innovation marked the birth of BACARDÍ Carta Blanca, and it quickly gained popularity for its unique characteristics and exceptional quality. Over the years, the rum has evolved but always remained true to its roots, representing the legacy of Bacardi and the spirit of the Caribbean.
Fabrication Process
The production of BACARDÍ Carta Blanca begins with the careful selection of superior sugarcane, sourced sustainably from the Caribbean. The sugarcane is then fermented, producing a wash that is further distilled four times to achieve maximum purity. This multiple distillation process ensures a clean and crisp spirit. Following distillation, the rum is aged in lightly charred ex-bourbon casks for a minimum of 12 to 24 months. This aging process allows the rum to develop greater depth while retaining its light character. After aging, the rum undergoes a charcoal filtration process, which further polishes the flavor and removes any impurities, ensuring a clean and refreshing taste. Finally, the rum is blended to achieve the signature BACARDÍ profile that consumers adore.
